Pantry Happenings

Save the Date

The Second Annual Best Shot Tournament, a golf fundraiser, is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, starting at 8:30 a.m. This is a great family event, with mini golf also available. More information will be available closer to the date.

Our Own Radio Personalities

Tune in to the “Your Town” segment of Jay Capron’s morning show on KXIC radio (AM 800) on the 3rd Thursday of each month to hear representatives of the Pantry answer questions and talk about the Pantry. The show airs from 8:15-8:45 a.m. and informs the community of the Pantry’s current events and concerns.

Detergent Bottle Recycling

The Pantry accepts empty 32-75oz detergent bottles to clean and refill with detergent we purchase in bulk. Please save your empty bottles in that size range and put them in the Pantry’s donation box at the church.

Help Wanted: Canstruction!

Canstruction will be occurring the week of April 14-21 at Coral Ridge Mall. Architects, engineers, designers, contractors, students, and local community members will come together to raise canned food to donate to local food banks. The cans will be utilized to create amazing structures, such as animals, food, buildings, etc. We will receive a portion of the food to distribute at the Pantry. We need people to help break down the Canstructions, transport the food, and stock it into the Pantry. Breakdown will occur on Sunday, April 22, beginning at 6pm. We need help until the food has been put away (probably about 2 hours). If you are able to help with this unique event and/or if your vehicle can be used to help transport the food, please contact Tina at the phone number or email address below.

There are so many ways to volunteer with the Pantry’s efforts and be part of this amazing ministry. We need people with a wide variety of skills, talents and abilities. If you are interested in helping with one-time events, we need help organizing the Thanksgiving in July food drive. We have openings on committees and need idea people, as well as people with administrative and organizing skills. It’s a wonderful opportunity to serve and to work with a terrific group of other volunteers. We’d love to have you join us.
