Church Staff

Our staff can be reached through the church office by calling 626-2762 or through their email addresses (see below).

Alecia Williams

Position: Pastor

I have served God in this church as the pastor since July 2001. I love this place. I have amazing opportunities to help people connect with God, while at the same time serving this community and the broader Iowa City area. I work alongside incredible folks-each on a journey. Outside of the workplace, I enjoy cycling, gardening, creepy murder mysteries, and chocolate. To visit my blog, click here.

Alecia can be reached at pastor@southslope.net.

Bev Byram-Howe

Position: Office Manager

My official title is "Office Manager" but that includes lots of other things, so the phrase, "and all other duties as assigned" is used a lot. I transferred my membership to this church in 1990, and I started working here in June 2007. I love office work and keeping things in order. This office gives me a challenge every day because every day is different. I never know what is going to happen when I come to work and that makes every day special. I love to crochet, knit and read, but I am passionate about my horses. I love to ride and try to spend as much time with my horses as possible.

Bev can be reached at nlmadmin@southslope.net.

Lynn Jansen

Position: Music Director

I am the Music Director at our church. My family and I joined in the winter of 1993. I started teaching Sunday School the following fall, adding Children's Choir, other committees and various responsibilities over the years. I was asked by the Pastor to try to organize special music for Sunday services and this evolved into starting additional music groups. Currently, I lead Grace Notes, Children's Choir, Youth Bells, and Youth Band. I also participate in Mission Band and Acabella. I have a strong commitment to music and to children.

Lynn can be reached at LJansen@southslope.net.

Tina DuBois

Position: Pantry Coordinator

I am the Pantry Coordinator. I have been involved with the pantry since July 2006 when I started working with the pantry as a student. I chose to remain involved in the pantry due to the warm welcoming environment of the pantry and the church. The church is not a space reserved for Sunday mornings, and the church members show an incredible connection to and support of their community. My main focus outside of work is my family. I have two young children and my husband who keep me busy. When I get a chance, I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, and carseat education.

Tina can be reached at nlpantry@gmail.com.

Renee Person

Position: Youth Coordinator

I have been a member of this family of God since 2007 when my husband, Darin, and I moved to North Liberty. Since that time, I have been blessed with the opportunity to meet, get to know, and grow to love the amazing youth in our church. Listening to and learning from our youth is refreshing and extremely meaningful. I am honored to help lead them in their faith journeys. Outside of my position as Youth Coordinator, I enjoy teaching, reading, sewing, spending quality time with family and friends, and my cats.

Renee can be reached at reneejperson@gmail.com.

Jim Newcomb

Position: Custodian

I am the part-time church janitor, but I do a lot of other work -including small repairs and lawn care - in my "spare time". I've been at the church since November 2007 and really feel comfortable here. I also work for Border Magic, a company that makes decorative concrete edging for commercial and residential lawns.

Jim can be reached at b.magic@mchsi.com.
