Church Staff

Our staff can be reached through the church office by calling 626-2762 or through their email addresses (see below).

Alecia Williams

Position: Pastor

I have served God in this church as the pastor since July 2001. I love this place. I have amazing opportunities to help people connect with God, while at the same time serving this community and the broader Iowa City area. I work alongside incredible folks-each on a journey. Outside of the workplace, I enjoy cycling, gardening, creepy murder mysteries, and chocolate. To visit my blog, click here.

Bev Byram-Howe

Position: Office Manager

My official title is "Office Manager" but that includes lots of other things, so the phrase, "and all other duties as assigned" is used a lot. I transferred my membership to this church in 1990, and I started working here in June 2007. I love office work and keeping things in order. This office gives me a challenge every day because every day is different. I never know what is going to happen when I come to work and that makes every day special. I love to crochet, knit and read, but I am passionate about my horses. I love to ride and try to spend as much time with my horses as possible.

Bev can be reached at nlmadmin@southslope.net.

Lynn Jansen

Position: Music Director

I am the Music Director at our church. My family and I joined in the winter of 1993. I started teaching Sunday School the following fall, adding Children's Choir, other committees and various responsibilities over the years. I was asked by the Pastor to try to organize special music for Sunday services and this evolved into starting additional music groups. Currently, I lead Grace Notes, Children's Choir, Youth Bells, and Youth Band. I also participate in Mission Band and Acabella. I have a strong commitment to music and to children.

Lynn can be reached at LJansen@southslope.net.

Tina DuBois

Position: Pantry Coordinator

I am the Pantry Coordinator. I have been involved with the pantry since July 2006 when I started working with the pantry as a student. I chose to remain involved in the pantry due to the warm welcoming environment of the pantry and the church. The church is not a space reserved for Sunday mornings, and the church members show an incredible connection to and support of their community. My main focus outside of work is my family. I have two young children and my husband who keep me busy. When I get a chance, I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, and carseat education.

Tina can be reached at nlpantry@gmail.com.

Josh Rath

Position: Youth Director

I feel honored and blessed to lead the youth of this congregation into a stronger relationship with Jesus. It always amazes me how much I learn from the youth while I am teaching them. I am excited to be part of the staff here and look forward to what God is going to do in the future. I have a wonderful wife and son that God has blessed me with. In my spare time I love hunting and fishing and just being outdoors.

Josh can be reached at youthdir@southslope.net.

Bill Freeney

Position: Custodian

I'm a Chicago Bear fan, a UNI Panther die-hard fan, and a overall fan of Iowa teams, especially when they play against SEC schools. I currently reside in North Liberty with my wife and 3 sons. Our family mission is to embrace our relationship with Christ and one another for the purpose of glorifying God, growing by his grace and sharing the message of the Gospel in both word and action. My wife and I are UNI alums and it is also where we met. We have been married for 13 years. I enjoy nice quiet meals with my family, especially on Sundays, eating healthy and exercising. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to be part of your family here at United Methodist.

Bill can be reached at nlmadmin@southslope.net.
